The Nigerian Lawyers Chess Tournament (NLCT) is set to be the flagship event of our Initiative, aiming to bring together legal practitioners from across the country in a celebration of strategic thinking and camaraderie. This groundbreaking tournament is exclusively open to Nigerian lawyers, with the only requirement for participation being a valid license to practice in Nigerian courts.

The NLCT promises to be a first of its kind within the legal community, providing an unparalleled opportunity for lawyers to showcase their chess skills in a competitive yet friendly environment. Participants will have the chance to compete for substantial cash prizes awarded to the winner, as well as the first and second runners-up. In addition to these top honours, there will be various cash and non-cash prizes recognizing outstanding performances in other categories, ensuring that many participants have a chance to be rewarded for their efforts.
The inaugural edition of the tournament is scheduled to take place in October 2024. Over a four-week period, a maximum of 128 games will be played, allowing for a comprehensive and engaging competition. This event not only highlights the intellectual prowess of Nigerian lawyers but also fosters a sense of community and mutual respect among colleagues.
